How a round goes
The board is a grid, and below it you get a few block shapes at a time. You pick one up and drop it anywhere it fits. There is no timer and nothing falls on its own: the only pressure comes from space running out.
When a row or a column is completely full, it disappears. Each clear is worth 10 points, and clearing again straight after multiplies the score by the combo number, so chains of clears are where high scores come from.
Classic mode keeps going as long as you can keep placing pieces. Your best score is shown in the top left corner next to a trophy icon, which gives each new board something to aim for.

Things we learned early
Look at all the shapes you have before placing the first one. The order often decides whether the last one fits.
Keep an open area big enough for a long straight piece; those are the hardest to fit late.
Build towards rows and columns that are nearly full, so one piece can clear two lines at once.
Avoid single empty cells surrounded by blocks. Very few shapes can fill them.

The catches
It is one idea repeated; players who want variety may tire of it.
A board can get stuck after one careless placement, which undoes a long session.
